Project Overview

Dorman’s Coffee Group, internationally recognized as a leading exporter of coffee from East Africa decided to establish its global headquarters at the Tatu Industrial Park, the light industrial zone located at Tatu City, Kenya’s visionary urban development near Nairobi.

Dorman’s Coffee Group were seeking to move to a less congested location, that would facilitate its global corporate headquarters as well as processing, packaging, warehousing and trading facilities capable of handling more than 15,000 tonnes of coffee per year and housing over 200 employees.

Terrain Services Ltd were chosen for this major turnkey project to design and build the Warehouses, Offices and Processing Facilities complete with all services. The contract period lasted 24 Months.

The project involved the following works

  • Reinforced concrete foundations and slabs, steel form structures with cladding and infill blockwork
  • Coffee warehouses, roasting house, offices, ancillary buildings
  • Earthworks, boundary wall/fence, security huts and coffee processing facility
  • Electrical installations
  • Plumbing, drainage & mechanical installations
  • Firefighting installations
  • Air conditioning, ventilation & extraction installations
  • Estate roads & landscaping

Kyagalanyi Coffee Factory

Project Overview

Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited a leading green coffee exporter in Uganda invested in constructing a flagship coffee processing facility located in the Kampala Industrial Business Park at Namanve, Kampala.

The task was put forward to Terrain Services Ltd. This was a design and build contract that included the following works:

  • Factory Buildings, Warehouses, process building, Offices
  • 35,000 cm of fill with geogrid mesh for soil reinforcement
  • Provision of all services
  • Coordinated sub-contractors for M&E Works – Keltron Development Services Ltd
  • All external works including Fuel Station, Weighbridge & Canteen

JDSDF Army Camp

Project Overview

In January 2012, Japan dispatched Japanese Ground Self Defence Force (JSDF) units to the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS). The Marubeni Corporation (Tokyo) requested Terrain Services Ltd to design and build a 350-man camp according to JGSDF specifications for 5-year occupancy.

The initial contract period was 18 weeks and lasted 20 weeks to be exact, with Terrain Services completing the work with great quality and attention to detail. The General Manager Aerospace & Defence Systems Department (Marubeni Corporation) had this to say about the completion of the work:

“Despite the rigorous quality requirements and time constraints, Terrain Services Ltd carried out the construction in high quality and accomplished in October 2012. It is obvious that the facilities contribute to the improvement of JGSDF troops living environment and are highly acclaimed by the troops.”

The project involved the following works:

  • To design and build a 350-man camp according to JGSDF Specification for a 5-year occupancy
  • Design and install water reticulation, sewerage system, complete electrical distribution System. All to link in with JGSDF water reticulation, sewerage treatment, primary/secondary generators
  • Install accommodation, ablution, offices, stores complete with accessories
  • External and internal security lighting

Dorman Coffee Factory Kigali

Project Overview

The project client Dorman Coffee Ltd requested Terrain Services to design and build a warehouse, compound and offices over a 10-month period

The project took 13 months and included mechanical and electrical installations. Substantial works included boundary walls, staff facility building, gate house, access road and car parking.

The project involved the following works:

  • Construct all boundary Walls, Retaining Structures and Earthworks to receive proposed Facilities
  • Construct 1,036 m2 Warehouse with 278 m2 two floor offices attached including all M&E Works
  • All external works to include roads; Parking; Drainage; Services; Landscaping
